KFC Night (Khazad Fundinul Chicken Night) 2/12 @ 8PM EST

It's time for another Khazad Fundinul Chicken Night. This time we'll have two events planned. Before making our chicken run to Rivendell, we'll be having a chicken race contest.

The formal finish line of the race to be decided on the day of the race, but all chicken players will be told where they are to race to. First prize will be 3 gold, 2nd place will be 2 mithril flakes, and 3rd place will be 25 pieces of level appropriate power/morale food.

After the race, we will regroup and will do the "Flying the Coop -- Trollshaws" quest for the chicken session play. The trollshaws is the last of the 6 flying the coop quests. Once all 6 are completed, you receive a very cool chicken cloak that's usable to make you do a chicken emote

Also, feel free to post any suggestions for race finish lines... all will be considered Also please note that chickens cannot go through zoning barriers, so no indoor locations and no moria/lothlorien/mirkwood

If I don't hear any suggestions, I'll make up something... like first 3 chickens to reach the death wall in Angmar

One quick addendum. I'm planning on starting the chicken run around 10PM EST. I don't think the race will take more than 2 hours. Also, if you would like to participate in the race, please make sure you've completed the first few quests to access the 'Fly the Coop' questline.

I'd love to be a chicken this time round so I'd better start those quests!

My vote for the race is a circuit in Bree somewhere. There's always a good pool of people milling around so should make for a good spectacle.

Never been a chicken either, but happy to help as an escort/judge/whatever.

I was thinking top of Weathertop, but I like Bree too, maybe have a two legged race (ehem) with one goal being the Prancing Pony and the next Weathertop. Secondary goal could be Esteldin or Angmar, although that is a significantly longer run.

It is from the last time we did this event. It will lead you in the right direction. One of the people leading this should post about it on the Brandywine forums to get outside people to join in. It is a big hit as an event.

Well I think I might have misunderstood the series Flying the Coop. I think you have to do those in order, with the trip Rivendell being the last in the series, or can you choose which one you do in what ever order?

Can any previous chickens confirm how that works? Be another 8 hours before I can confirm myself...

Saro, the introductory quests leading to the Flying the Coop series only took about 30 mins. If we need to do all the travel quests in order after that tho it could be several hours worth of swimming, general avoidance and playing dead

The Flying the Coop quests can be done in any order. So what the wife and I did this morning was travel to Sandson's farm and do the 3 or 4 intro quests until we unlocked all the Flying the Coop quests. That took 30-40 minutes (I think, wasn't really paying attention). I have no desire to do all the Flying the Coop quests again though. I remember them taking like 8 hours total, and I don't really have fond memories of running them. The cloak is really nice, but once was enough. :D

So if you've unlocked all the 6-8 Flying the Coop quests: you'll be good to go for Friday. My understanding is we'll only be doing the Rivendell one, so you'll be on your own for the others. Rivendell is by far the hardest, so it's not so bad.

Was reading funny stories about the Evendim trek. Was wondering how you'd get past the two Shades that guard the entry to Evendim from the Fornost side. Apparently the tactic is to hop into the Brandywine river from north of the Shire and just swim all the way up and across the lake. About a 30 minute swim

Yep, that's how I did it. Made it the easiest and the most boring of them all. Makes you really understand why people call it Everswim.
