Saturday Raid Event March 13th - (Either VM or DN)

As just an update to my last post - Avwyn and Xiin are both at 115 radiance - so we are just missing one person for BG level radiance requirements... Something to think about at least.

I dinged 58 last night. Have a quest log full of Lorien quests that are yellow to me, and even picked up a few Mirkwoods, which are orange. That's good XP. Lorien's wide open, so I'll burn through a bunch of those quests this week.

Okay - watched the video and a couple of things... It does look like they mostly have melee in the corners for the final worm stage. Prior to that final stage (first two stages) it also looks like that they have set 'positions' around the room. Everyone looked fairly spread out (with a champ in the middle to handle worms). So I'm thinking that like the Zholuga fight, we need to seperate a bit and just position ourselves around.

The idea about kite tanking Istum does seem like it may have some benefits. Basically bounce aggro between myself and Xiin (or Poli and Xiin) and when we have aggro, semi kite him around.

The AOE when he goes to the final stage looks like its not something that can really be avoided - the video had a pretty big death/lots of dmg at that point. But I think the last thing we were talking about last night (treating the fight more like a range fight than anything) in the final stage seems to be the best idea. We may even want to consider keeping only the tank/off tank in melee range for pretty much the entirety of the fight... May go slower in the early stages, but if we can get the range down on his whirlwind attack (or at least have some sort of cue since he does a lot of pausing/kneeling in fight) it may make the fight go safer...

Hmms... Time to get on our thinking caps I guess...

I'm glad Avwyn got the last barter piece last night. We got Boots, Gloves, and Helm, but unfortunately 2 out of the 3 pieces went to non-kin members. (The other Champ and other loremaster got the other two pieces). I'm not quite sure how to stop that other than making sure the run is only a full kin run. Next time we go in - hopefully - that will be the case.

As for the rest of the raid last night - everyone did a really, really good job. Which makes the Istum hang ups we are having all the more frustrating. It's all good 'training' though for BG and I really do think that we are getting to the point that we are almost ready to try to set up a BG run. We need to really work on getting people up to the appropriate radiance levels though, so definitely keep that in mind.

Right now the people I know who are for sure BG ready (which is at least 115 radiance - 120 would be idea) are (also - if i'm wrong about any of these, let me know):

Now, personally, I would like to finish DN before we attempt BG. I know we have some people who are getting a little anxious to get into BG, and I definitely agree... I just also think that we want to make sure we can complete these previous raids before we go forward, both for the experience as a group as well as so that we can give the people the opportunity to complete this content before it becomes obsolete by the raise in level caps.

I'll see about posting a thread for next weekend in just a little bit, but for now - feel free to throw out any suggestions/options/critiques/questions. I'm all ears about what we should do about istum.


(And Xiin as for tonight - i'll keep the game open in a window while I work a bit today in order to gauge some interest in the possibility of going back in tonight...)

I guess we weren't "whacking the crap out of it" enough.

The last (or was it second to last) fight was the best one we had done to date (where Llem and I were bouncing aggro). Mind you, though, that only got him down to about 90k~85k before we wiped, so still along way from successful.

I'm all for going back and running again tonight if we can get enough kin mates to do it.....and we can be sure NOT to get whathisface from last night. I don't think Tin will be able to come though. She has a test and needs to catch up on her studying.

I cannot really express how frustrating that fight is.

I guess maybe if we'd have had a 2nd hunter instead of a 2nd Lore master we may have cranked out more dps. but there seems to be just too many things hitting us at once, worms, aoe, acid pool, punts

guess I should watch the vid at least. It's just kinda depressing to be doing so well and then just hit a wall.

It seems that the group there put any melee characters on the worms in the corner and ranged the boss from about 200k and down. Even their tank seemed to stay away as much as possible, more like kiting the boss around, since it's so random to begin with.

That's really all I've seen different than what we did. Also take into account the video looks like it's from before SoM where the combat stuff changed.

I'll post more tomorrow after I get some sleep - but for those following our exploits - we got hung up on istum again. First 3 bosses are basically farm status now - so those are no longer a problem. We just need to figure out what it is we are doing wrong on istum to get this fight to work right for us...

We had to pick up 3 non-kin members tonight. So everyone be sure to slap elavorn next time you see him.

Just as a reminder to everyone - DN tonight at 8:30 pm-ish. We'll be knocking out a turtle run at 8pm est before hand for those who don't have the radiance levels needed for DN. So there's enough to do for everyone... From what I've been told we are going to have most of the people who came to the first DN run available again tonight, so that should make things a little easier on us.

I'm down for DN, but I'd follow Llem anywhere! I'm a groupie! A Llemonhead! A....uh.....sheep....no wait....a fan, yeah, lets say I'm a fan.

All kidding aside (just for a sec at least), Tin and I can play and we are up for whatever, DN is cool.

On a side note, Tin and I are still in need of DG tokens for rad gear and still itching for a Symbol drop.
