Anyone else here is fan of Final Fantasy series? I've played these games since FFIV and been a fan all these years. Got FFXIII today, so far very excited, haven't started yet though. My favorite is probably FFVII.

And I am looking forward to try FFXIV MMORPG. They say classes are very similar to FFXI but overall game is much more advanced than its predecessor.

Haven't played any of them tbh, but that's only 'cos I know nothing about them. I watched one of the movies once... amazing graphics but man, what a story, truly interesting experience!

Is this new FFXIV for PS3 only?

I'll admit I'm a huge Final Fantasy fan, but I've never played the MMO and I don't have a new enough console system to play the new one. My buddy will end up getting it so I'll get to see it, but won't really get to play it.

And my favorite FF would be Final Fantasy 6, or FF3 in the usa. FF7 is a close second Happy

Fina Fantasy XIV will be available both on PC and Playstation 3, its gonna be mixed environment. That really sounds fun. It all looks good on pictures and video clips, but only when you try the game itself you see what its really like. I lost interest while playing FFXI, it just didn't remind me about FF series at all. Yeah they've had chocobos there, but thats the only thing that was comparable to other FF games. I hope that FFXIV MMORPG will actually have nice background story behind, similar to other FF single player games. At least some big epic line like in LOTRO, that was a huge drawback for me in FFXI that I lost interest becouse.

FFXIII is probably on of the prettiest games I've played on consoles. I love SquareEnix same as Bioware. These 2 game developers always create games with awesome story lines. Enjoying the concept of weapon leveling in FFXIII. Its almost like legendary weapon system in LOTRO, you can actually level up your weapons, enchant them except that instead of runes you just use items you loot from mobs that have their own exp value. Except that when weapon is maxed you can convert it to a higher tier weapon and continue leveling it.

There is also fun skill system in FFXIII called Paradigms. Every character have 2-3 specializations, and paradigms consist of those. Its like if you get a group together in LOTRO say trio of tank, minstrel and LM in FFXIII it would be called - Distress Paradigm. After all the healing done, you can immediately switch to DPS paradigm, characters atuomatically switch specializations to deal max DPS. Pretty dynamic system, loving it so far. Don't need to go retrait or anything :D.

Ooh, that's cool, only four hours away.
I wonder if I can go at all...

I haven't played much of the FF series at all,
but my brother like them a lot. What I did play I liked though.

I am not going, but I ordered CD. Nobuo Uematsu is the best composer ever.

I'm really looking forward to FFXIV, and I played FFXI for a couple years so I like the style (plus it had an AMAZING storyline, imo). I admit, after playing mmos that I doubt I could go back to FFXI though because of the sheer difficulty of doing anything (plus lack of time). I still miss my blue mage, but after all our friends quit (and you can't do anything worthwhile without a fully functioning group and linkshell) there didn't seem to be much of a point sticking around.

Mas and I will be trying it out as soon as it comes out, but we'll see. The combat seems a bit different, but I'm sure the storyline will be excellent.

The most recent Game Informer has an article about the new FF MMO. I only glanced at it so far. It is supposed to be more accessible along the lines of WoW.

I might try it after all, but the concept of similar races kinda threw me off a bit. In FFXI I really loved the concept of including the scenes in story line, which I found quite unique and I didn't see it in any other MMO back then. And basically inability to find a group led me to canceling my account.

I love FF series, but somehow FFXI felt completely different, like it was a game from completely different universe. I couldn't find anything similar to back then existing FF games other than chocobo in FFXI. It looks like FFXIV is not going to be much different from FFXI. Yeah changes to combat, some interesting futures, but it might feel for me like a WoW in Asian wrapping, which I'd hate to happen. Its good to try it though. I think I'll be spending most of my time in SWTOR though. Nobody can do story and RP element better than Bioware Happy.

SquareEnix my second favorite RPG developer, or so to say JRPG. Bioware wins for me though. And such a huge franchise as Star Wars simply can't fail in Bioware hands Happy. But FFXIV is definitely worth at least a purchase and a first free month.

Final Fantasy XIV is in Open Beta now, but they have some pitiful system in place. Can't even get in. Been 3 days and they are still working on 'server congestion'. You need to register first on square enix web site, then register for beta, they will send you a key, then you need to log in and then register for some other site.. wow... thats so pathetic, I am frustrated. In most cases you can't even get on the website, throws you out...

Finally got through and downloading client.

If anyone interested to try an Open Beta you shouldn't have little problems now. Maybe some cut off here and there but it seems to be easing up.

If anyone played Final Fantasy XI - this new one is pretty similar, with some additions, graphics overhaul etc. I haven't played much of FFXI, hoping that Open beta will prove me wrong, but FFXIV didn't inspire me at all, even though I am a huge FF series fan. It seems that FF Online franchise has completely different people working on a game. Totally different feel.

I only played FFVII, and FFVIII. PC Versions. Never finished Eight. It got boring to me. Not a fan of the combat system. Seven I did finish it with the exeption of the emerald Weapon. It wooped my butt every time . Been a console game ported for Pc's I'm not sure I will like the new FFXIV. But if there is a trial I might give it shot.

I've had a chance to play it for a while, you can get into Open Beta for free on PC. All you need to do is register account on http://member.square-enix.com/na/ and apply for beta, they will send you a code then you will have to wait like 4 days to download a client because they seem to be hosting it from Japan servers or use some custom links that other people posted.

They have finally fixed registration process but game is not polished for PC. Its a console version but for some reason they are releasing it first on PC and port is awful. The only way to play even open beta - is a controller. Game is VERY rushed. It will take you about an hour to figure out what actually is going on in your starting city . You need to carefully follow what NPC says in the beginning or else you can get lost.

Basically the only gameplay in game right now at least for this starting city is - you arrive on the boat and go to Adventurers guild, there is all kind of talk about pirates and blah blah and in the end the guy sends you to other NPCs that have repeatable quests and you can repeat them once every 24 hours and the story line pretty much ends unless you can figure out what to do next...

Anyway, I am really frustrated that all this hype, all these awesome CGIs and game itself is CRAP. The only thing is good in FFXIV - graphics. There is barely any content at all. I'll wait for PS3 version, hopefully by then at least the performance issues will be all fixed and game will actually be playable and more player friendly. I hated FFXI but that game at least had some quests. This Open Beta is like Alpha stage... grrr.
